Though the new building for his business is taking a little longer than expected, Bob Knisley wants his customers to know that is planning to reopen in the coming months.

Knisley, the owner of ITD Customs is in the process of building a new facility on Hog Run Road.

The business does car audio and security systems.

“Anything you see on Pimp my Ride or Trick my Truck I can do,” he said, referring to television shows that shows that feature the restoration of vehicles.

The shop was located at the corner of Neal and Third streets for 15 years, before it closed in December 2008.

The business is currently closed while a new building on Hog Run Road is being constructed.

The new location was projected to open in November of last year but construction concerns — including a wrong roof delivered and a windstorm blowing down the early stages of construction- have caused delays.

“I’ve never had so many problems,” Knisley said.

Knisley’s family is helping him build the new building himself. Several people have suggested that Knisley take out loans to finish it, but he is reluctant to do so.

“The whole point is not to owe anything,” he said. “I hate to be in debt, especially with the way the economy is right now.”

With the setbacks, Knisley is hoping to have the new location up in running by the summer.

“If we worked everyday day it would still take two months and you have to take into consideration the weather,” he said.

The new building might be worth the wait because it will allow the business to expand.

“It’s huge,” Knisley said. ”The space I’ll gain is more than double.”

There will be a bigger garage facility and a paint booth.

“Everything is bigger,” he said.

In addition to custom bodywork and speaker systems, the business will offer vinyl lettering signs and window tinting.

In the meantime, Knisley encourages customers to leave him a message at the business’s original phone number if they need work done. He is not doing much custom work but is still selling equipment, he said.
