Jane Darbaker

Jane Alice Darbaker passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015, at Crown Pointe Care Center in Columbus.  We will miss her beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile, but we rejoice knowing that she is in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We remember her generosity to strangers and stray animals, her love of the outdoors, her crazy laugh when something really struck her funny, and her incredible memory of the smallest details of the lives of others.  But most importantly, she filled the role of introducing all three of her children to Jesus, beginning with reading Bible stories on her lap, quoting Scripture from memory, to taking us faithfully to church whenever the doors were open.

In her last years, dementia took her memory and other health issues took her mobility, so we treasure our memories all the more.  But the Holy Scriptures promise, “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”

Jane is survived by her children Amy (John) Staley, Jeffrey (Patricia) Darbaker, and Jennifer (Kevin) Meyers. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Will, Jasmine, Abigail, Noah, Lucy, Daphne, and Flora.

Viewing will be at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.  with service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home and pastor Kevin Meyers officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Ironton City Welfare Mission and the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
