FRIENDSHIP — A quick look at the All-Ohio Valley Conference golf team made it easy to see who won the league title.

The Gallipolis Blue Devils had five of the top 13 golfers on the All-OVC team as they won the conference championship in their first season of league play.

The Blue Devils had a 342 team score followed by Portsmouth at 361.

A logjam came in the next three spots as the Ironton Fighting Tigers posted a 373 score, the Chesapeake Panthers 374 and the Fairland Dragons 376.

The Coal Grove Hornets were next at 391, the South Point Pointers 428 and Rock Hill Redmen 457.

Chesapeake’s Derek Lemley took medalist honors with a 75, the only golfer to break 80.

Dares Hamid of Gallipolis was runner-up at 81 followed by Coal Grove’s Trevor Deere with an 82, Fairland’s Hayden James 83, Rock Hill’s Logan Reed 84, Fairland’s Reece Bellville and Gallipolis’ Marcus Moore 86 each, Portsmouth’ Trent Rodbell and Gallipolis’ Kaden Thomas 87 apiece, and Ironton’s Chandler Dodson and Gallipolis’ Taae Hamid and Miles Cornwell all shot an 88.

Postseason play begins on Monday.
