Gubernatorial candidates failed to deliver ideas

knockout punch. Tuesday’s gubernatorial debate between Democrat Gov. Ted Strickland and Republican challenger John Kasich also didn’t deliver much in the way of substance.
We hope both candidates deliver more in the next (and final) debate, to be held Oct. 7 in Toledo. Tuesday’s performance was little more than a replay of the advertisements and press releases the two campaigns have been issuing.
Gov. Strickland, everyone in Ohio knows Kasich worked for the investment firm Lehman Brothers and that you’ve been managing a state during a severe recession. Now that we have that straight, perhaps you could shed some light on closing the state’s projected $8 billion budget deficit.
Mr. Kasich, we know. Ohio has lost hundreds of thousands of jobs over Strickland’s term. Should Ohioans make you the state’s chief executive, how do you propose to offset those losses? …
Ohio has lost jobs. Unemployment remains uncomfortably high. Kasich wants Ohioans to believe we could do better. Strickland says the state has done as well as it could have under such severe circumstances. But both candidates have to acknowledge the state still has room for improvement. Both also owe it to voters to explain and there’s only one more debate how to bring about that improvement.
