CHESAPEAKE — One of a trio of suspects in a drug trafficking case will have her first preliminary hearing this Friday in Lawrence County Municipal Court.

Charlotte Bowles, 55, of 3954 County Road 55, South Point, made her first appearance in the Chesapeake courtroom on July 24 where she was assigned Philip Heald as her court-appointed attorney.

Bowles, along with her husband, David Rick Bowles, 60, and son, James Bowles, 31, were arrested on July 22, following a drug bust by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Drug and Major Crimes Task Force and the Coal Grove Police K-9 unit.

Following the execution of a search warrant, law enforcement found approximately 40 grams of Schedule I drug Alpha PVP with a street value of $10,000; digital scales; packaging material; $20,000 in cash; 40 firearms; packing slips and order forms from China, allegedly for Alpha orders; cell phones; computers; and tablets.

On Friday James Bowles, 31, was assigned Warren Morford for his court-appointed attorney. There was no attorney listed for David Bowles, nor court dates for the two men.

David Bowles faces five counts of drug trafficking; Charlotte Bowles is charged with one count of complicity to trafficking in drugs; and James Bowles with one count of trafficking; one county of possession; and resisting arrest.
