Ironton City Council to meet tonight

The first reading of five ordinances are on the agenda for the first Ironton city council meeting of the month tonight at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the third floor of the city building.

Ordinance 15-16, authorizing and directing the mayor to execute an agreement with Southern Ohio Salvage and Contracting, Inc. for the Ironton city building parapet wall rehabilitation project and declare it an emergency will be voted on by the council.

Southern Ohio Salvage and Contracting of Ironton was the lowest bidder at $64,480 after bidding was opened on March 12 by the city.

The other ordinances for the council are 15-15, authorizing and directing the mayor to execute a change order of $43,385.83 from Southern Ohio Trenching and Excavating, Inc. for phase two of the storm water separation project in the North Fifth Street area; 15-17, rezoning certain tax parcel numbers from an R-2 district to an R-3 district; and 15-18, amending the annual operating budget for the city of Ironton for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2015 and declaring an emergency.

Prior to the regular council meeting, there will be a finance committee meeting at 5 p.m.
