Joan Turvey

Sept. 5, 1935-April 2, 2015

F. Joan Turvey, 79 of Ironton, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 5, 1935, a daughter of the late Labe and Virgie Miller White. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Turvey, who passed away Dec. 28, 2005.

Mrs. Turvey was a graduate of Waterloo High School and was a former employee for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 31 years of service with them. She was a member of the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Coffman, Bessie Brammer, Thelma Coffman and Ruby Burd; and two brothers, Celces White and Clyde White; a sister-in-law, Effie White; and a brother-in-law, Bob Brammer.

She is survived by a son, Vernon (Belinda) Turvey of Ironton; and two sisters, Beulah Lacy and Ruth Malone, both or Ironton.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Todd Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Nora Hayes

Nora Francis Nichols Hayes, 75, of Chesapeake, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at home. Karen Dillon

Karen Jean Dillon, 60, of Scottown, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Cincinnati.  Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville with pastor Gordon Simpson.  Entombment will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens Barboursville, West Virginia.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home at the funeral home.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

 

 

Danny Primm

Danny Primm, 61, of Ironton, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at his residence.

Graveside services will be noon Monday at Woodland Cemetery in Ironton with Sean Primm officiating. There will be no visitation. Alannia Faye Cooper, 82, of Proctorville, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Ruth Bryant

Nov. 19, 1937-April 4, 2015

Ruth G. Bryant, 77, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015, at her residence. The Perry Township native was born Nov. 19, 1937, a daughter of the late Willis and Mary Alberta Kelly Stapleton. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Arthur E. (Dunie)  Bryant Jr. whom she married March 22, 1957.

Ruth attended Kitts Hill, Rock Camp and Andis Schools and was a 1957 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School. She was a homemaker and Avon representative for 46 years and a member of the New Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers: Harold Kenneth, Bill E., Ralph V. Glen Alden, Bruce R., Keith F. and Robert D. Stapleton; and five sisters: Margaret Stapleton Justice, Alberta F. Stapleton Darby, Rose W. Stapleton Hankins, Carol R. Stapleton Chapman and Mary Sue Stapleton.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, daughter, Mary Ellen Bryant of Ironton; son, Arthur E. and Reba Bryant III of Ironton; daughter, Karen Sue and Billy Huff Jr. of Kitts Hill; daughter, Deanna Kay and Scott Case of Coal Grove; son, Larry Franklin and Opal Bryant of South Point; eight grandchildren: Lesley Bryant, Corey R. Bryant, Adam Bryant, Caylyn N. Case, Jordan S. Case, Chanston R. Bryant, Creighton B. Bryant and Presleigh Bryant; a step grandchild, Kaleb Sullivan; one great-grandchild, Katelynn Anne Bryant; brother, Larry K. Stapleton; and many nieces and nephews.
