A South Point man accused of murder received new charges last week after allegedly assaulting another inmate.

Justin Wilson, 25, of 223 Township Road 1186 Apt. 43, South Point, is in the Lawrence County Jail and charged with the Jan. 13 murder of 30-year old Justin Adams. At his arraignment on March 4, bond was set at $500,000.

On March 12, Wilson allegedly hit another inmate, James Wolford with a crutch.

According to a sheriff’s report written by Deputy John Majher, “I found Justin Wilson standing over James Wolford and heard Wolford say ‘Stop, I didn’t do anything.’”

The inmates were separated and the crutches, one of them bent, were taken as evidence. Wilson was charged with felonious assault.

Wolford had some redness but no injuries that required medical attention, according to the report.

Wolford is being housed in the jail for a charge of rape. He was arraigned in Ironton Municipal Court on Friday and bond was set at $100,000.

In addition to murder, Wilson, is charged with a third-degree count of tampering with evidence and has a pretrial set for Wednesday.

Wilson was arrested in January after about two weeks on the run from police.

According to investigators, Wilson shot Adams after an alleged drug-related dispute at the home of Nicole Eller, 30, of 37 Township Road 616 Apt. 9, South Point.

Eller was also arrested, as well as William Rice, 24, of 65 Township Road 520 N., South Point. Each has been charged with counts of complicity to murder, third degree tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice.

Tentative trial dates for Eller and Rice were set for April 9.

A trial date has not yet been set for Wilson.
