JACKSON — If the Fairland Lady Dragons had a hangover from Monday, they recovered quickly.

After suffering a disheartening upset loss against Chesapeake, the Lady Dragons bounced back in a big way with a 56-31 rout of the Jackson Ironladies on Thursday.

Caitlin Stone hit four 3-poitners to join Jenna Fulks with 12 points each to lead Fairland (17-5) as nine different players scored.

Mackenzie Riley had 8 points and seven rebounds for Fairland. Alesha Simpson grabbed eight rebounds and Emily Chapman had six assists and five steals.

Jackson (9-12) was led by Rebekah Green with 12 points and Kacee Jenkins with 10.

Jackson took its only lead at 3-0 just 46 seconds into the game, but Fairland went on a 12-2 run to lead 12-5 with 3:25 left in the quarter.

The Ironladies scored 7 unanswered points to tie the game, with 1:25 on the clock but Fairland went up 15-12 at the end of the quarter.

The Lady Dragons held Jackson scoreless for five minutes and pulled away to a 28-16 halftime lead.

Fairland extended the lead to 40-25 at the end of the third quarter and outscored Jackson 16-6 in the fourth quarter.

Fairland was 22-of-47 from the field for 47 percent. Jackson was 11-of-35 shooting for 31.4 percent.

Both teams were missing a starter. Fairland was without Kelsey Riley due to an illness while Jackson’s top defender Amelia Davis was out with a concussion.

Fairland plays at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Rock Hill in the Div. III sectional tournament against the winner of Minford vs. Portsmouth.
