Glenn Pritchard

Glenn Franklin Pritchard, 52, of Ironton, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at his residence. He was born Feb. 21, 1962, in Ironton, a son of Kaye Ann Dickess Pritchard and the late Calvin C. Pritchard. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Billy Jack Pritchard; and his mother-in-law, Linda L. Bazell.

Glenn was a 1981 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a retired employee of Kanawha River Terminals. He loved to hunt and fish and play cards with his family. He was a Christian of the Baptist faith and loved watching grandkids play sports and spending time with family.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Cherie L. Bazell Pritchard; a son, Shayne F. Pritchard; a daughter, April D. (Shane) Pemberton; seven grandchildren, Devon Pritchard, Dylan French, Darian French, Tyera Pemberton, Abby French, Allana Pemberton and Casey Pemberton; a great granddaughter, Aiden Pemberton; two brothers, Jess Pritchard and John C. Pritchard; two sisters, Sheila (Jeff) Saul and Sandra (Jeff) Fields; two brothers-in-law, David Bazell and Keith (Tammy) Bazell; in-law, Donald Bazell; clergyman and special friend, Paul Liebee; nieces and nephews, Melissa Morgan, J. D. Saul, J.J. Pritchard, Shelly Pemberton, Sarah Pritchard, John David Pritchard, Becky Pritchard, Kayla Pritchard, Genny Fields, Mandy Layne, Kelly Wilson, Jimmy Fields and Derrick French; and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Paul Liebee and pastor Randy Tate officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.

 

 

Fern Bester

Fern Bester, 93, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at a local nursing home. She was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Wayne County, West Virginia, to Gypsy and Palmer Belcher.

She was a 1939 graduate of South Point High School. She was a member of Pine Street Methodist Church. She worked for years at Cal Lambert’s Shoe Store and retired from Judy’s Dress Shop in Ashland.

Fern is survived by three sons, Bob (Sandy) Bester, of Franklin Furnace, Randy (Diane) Bester, of Ironton, and Jerry Bester, of Ironton; eight grandchildren, Brian (Lyndsey) Bester, Eric (Kayce) Bester, Josh Bester, Beth (Mike) Evans, Sara Scior, Jared Bester, Jason Bester and Matt (Alicia) Bester; and seven great-grandchildren, Bella, Lyla, Kayleigh, Elijah, Kaden, Kristine, and Grahm.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Bester; a brother, Wayne; and a sister, Betty.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Woodland Cemetery with pastor Willard Metz officiating. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home.

Kimberly Insco

Kimberly Lea Insco, 42, of Chesapeake, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.

 

 

Roy Stumbo

Roy “Levone” Stumbo, 75, of Gallipols, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

 

 

Loretta Flanagan

Loretta Massie Flanagan, 84, of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, formerly of Flatwoods, Kentucky and Huntsville, Alabama, died Nov. 26, 2014, in the Hospice Unit of the Thomas Memorial Hospital, Charleston, West Virginia. A memorial service is planned at a future date.

 

 

Chester Martin

Chester “Marty” Martin, 78, of Chesapeake, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He was born Aug. 3, 1936, in Henlawson, West Virginia, to the late Boss and Mae Wimmer Martin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joey Mae Martin; daughter, Sherry Martin; and two sisters, Sylervine Dingess and Ocie Nelson.

He was a retired meat cutter from Kroger. He was an Army veteran. Marty was a member of Proctorville Masonic Lodge 550 F and AM, American Legion Post #640 Chesapeake, and the DAV of Huntington. He was a Democratic committee chairman. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Jean Ross Martin; one son, Terry and Debbie Martin of Kitts Hill; one daughter, Christy and Bubbie Ferguson; five grandchildren, Derrick, Brittany, and Paul Martin, Shannon Fuller, and Brook Ferguson; four brothers, Clayton, Butch, Snooker, and Buster Martin; one sister, Ida Mae; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. today at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville by pastor Tom Jones. Chesapeake American Legion 640 will conduct military graveside rites. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
