Lemley finishes 18th at D2 state golf tournament

COLUMBUS — Derek Lemley just decided to get better.
After shooting an 85 on the first day of the Division II state golf tournament, the Chesapeake Panthers’ sophomore sliced eight strokes off his score the second day and finished 18th overall.
Lemley shot 43-42 the first day but rebounded with a 39-38 for a 77 score and a two-day 162 total among the 72 golfers.
Lemley was second among the individuals at the district tournament to earn his trip to the state tournament held this past Friday at Saturday at the Ohio State University Scarlet Golf Course.
Canton Central Catholic had a 630 score to win the team championship. Bishop Watterson and Chagrin Falls tied for second at 654.
Charlie Toman of Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin was the individual medalist with a 153.
