Krivan sparks Pointers

SOUTH POINT — Foreign exchange student Matt Krivan is going to have something to write home about after Tuesday’s soccer game.

Krivan scored five goals as the South Point Pointers beat the Gallipolis Blue Devils 6-1.

Krivan scored a goal at the 13:00 mark off an assist by Jake Helton for a 1-0 lead and then got an unassisted goal a minute later and it was 2-0 at the half.

The Pointers then scored four goals in the second half to get the easy win.

“We didn’t play well in the first half. We came out in the second half and played pretty well,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy.

Krivan scored in the 41-minute mark thanks to an assist from Trey Kearns to begin the second half.

Kearns then scored an unassisted goal at the 48:00 mark. Krivan scored two more goals with Kearns getting two more assists and it was 6-0.

Zach Johnson scored an unassisted goal the 73:00 mark for the Blue Devils’ lone goal.

Brady Rickard had six saves for the Pointers while Caden Witt had 12 for Gallipolis (1-2).

South Point (3-0) visits Minford at 7 p.m. Thursday.
