Richard Ray “Dick” Brown, 60, of Ironton, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.
He was born March 31, 1949, in Ironton, a son of Ethel Mae Abrams Jackson of Ironton and the late Patrick Brown.
He was a retired corrections officer at the Federal Correctional Institution in Ashland and also worked at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office and the Ironton Municipal Court.
He was a member of the Lawrence Lodge #198 F&AM and the Knights Templar and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Brown; stepfather, James L. Jackson Sr. and two brothers, Mike Brown and Paul David Brown.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Johnson Brown; his mother, Ethel Mae Abrams Jackson of Ironton; a daughter, Laura Lee Hopper and fiancé, Harvey Vick of Huron; a son, Eric Richard (Teresa) Brown of Ironton; five grandchildren, Michael and Joshua Jenkins, Katelyn Hopper, Aaron Collins and Wyatt Richard Brown; two brothers, Chris Brown of Ironton and Eugene (Alice) Brown of Ironton; three sisters, Jennifer Wilson of St. Petersburg, Fla., Diane Sunseri of Ironton and Julie Brown of Ironton; a stepbrother, James L. Jackson Jr. of Galion; and sister-in-law, Patty and Tom McMaster.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Austin officiating.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
