PEDRO — Eula Owens Self, 97, of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Dickenson County, Va., native was born May 3, 1912, the daughter of the late William and Isabelle Owens Owens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arville Self, who passed away Dec. 7, 1988.
Mrs. Self was a homemaker, loved sewing and quilting and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lonzy Owens, Dewey Owens, and Bascom Owens; two sisters, Alta Francis and Lena Jett; a niece, Fern Pearson and two nephews, John Sutherland and Bill Self.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gene Pest of Canal Winchester; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Dan Huffman of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters, Karie Stophel (Mike) and Amy Huffman all of Jacksonville, Fla.; two great grandchildren, Madeline Stophel and Henry Stophel both of Jacksonville; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Self of Gallipolis and Bonnie Elkins of Kalamazoo, Mich.; 10 nephews and 11 nieces and several friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Chaplain Jimm Smedley officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
