Now that old man winter has slowly faded away, hopefully it is time to put away the coats and trade them in for shorts and T-shirts.

It is time to trade in the basketballs for baseballs and softballs, but ultimately I am just glad that I could walk out to my car one morning this week and head to work without a jacket or having to start my car to let it warm up.

It seems we have certainly turned the corner on what was the endless winter, but now that we have moved into spring, there are many events to look forward to throughout the duration of summer throughout the county.

All too often, I am not sure if it is a form of cabin fever, but I typically find myself wanting to get everything done that I have thought about throughout the winter within the first week of spring.

However, with all the hustle that comes with spring and summer finally arriving, I, like many, never think about just enjoying the time outside, relaxing, or simply attending an event.

Lawrence County does not lack for events throughout the spring and summer, and each event throughout the county and region is important to not only their respective organizations. In most cases, these events are vital to the community as well. The reason is because not only do people attend the event, but chances are they will stop and eat or make a purchase at a business in the community.

That is one of the many things that make Lawrence County special because regardless of the location of the event, county residents will show their support. And of course it does not hurt that so many options exist for locals and visitors alike to attend.

Many of the events will take place over the few couple months throughout the county along with our local school districts graduations and proms, Little League, and other organizations events. These various events include a little bit of everything that everyone can enjoy.

Regardless of the things going on throughout the county, it is important to remember even you cannot make it to these events, simply get outside and enjoy the weather. Whether it is a trip to the lake, a weekend camping, going to the local pool, or just sitting on your porch swing; it sure has been a long time coming.
