Michael Riley

Michael Patrick Riley, 48, of Franklin Furnace, formerly of Ironton and Ashland, Ky., passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his home.

He was born Nov. 9, 1965, in Ashland, a son of the late Janet Stallon and Clarence Riley of Ashland. He was a graduate of Scottsburg Indiana High School and college educated at the University of Indiana and of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his mom, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David Jenkins.

In addition to his dad, he is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Evelyn Jenkins Riley; a son, Patrick Riley; two stepdaughters, Roxann (Larry) Gool and Letha Hammonds; a brother, Christopher (Karen) Riley; a stepsister, Becky (Brian) Johnson; his stepmother, Darlene Riley; two step grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God located at 525 Blackburn Ave. in Ashland with Pastor Charles Shields officiating. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. Keeping with Mike’s wishes he will be cremated after the services. George Riedel

George Edward Riedel, 93, of Barboursville, W.Va., formerly of Ironton, passed away March 17, 2014, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was born in 1920 to the late George S. and Margaret Delaney Riedel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Rodgers; a brother, Paul Riedel; and a special friend, Nina Doughman.

He is survived by three daughters, Janet Nicol, of Danville, Va., Judy Riedel, of Springfield, Leigh Jordan (Roger), of Barboursville, W.Va.; one brother, James Riedel (Lyndall), of Florida; four grandchildren, Annie Johnson (Thomas), John Foreman (Aimee), Chris Bartley (Shawn) and Mary Koogler (Rob); seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

George was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from September 1942 until June 1945. He was in the 68th Medical Regiment, European Theater of Operations and participated in the “D-Day” landing driving a jeep onto the beaches of Normandy on the second day.

George retired from Allied Chemical and the Lawrence County Courthouse where he was deputy auditor. He was a member of the 68th Medical Association and the Our Lady of Fatima Parish. George spent his later years with his daughter, Leigh, and son-in-law, Roger. A special thanks to his caregiver, Barbara Miller, the staff of Cardiac Step-down, St. Mary’s and the staff of Hospice. Contributions can be made to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, the Jeffrey George Comfort House or Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Huntington, W.Va. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Enid Martin

Enid Martin, 94, of South Point, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

Barbara Marshall

Barbara Sue Marshall, 73, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Parkersburg, W.Va., native was born Oct. 18, 1940, a daughter to the late Walter and Beatrice Cozzins Frost.

Ms. Marshall was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and a former employee for Wilson’s Sporting Goods in Ironton for 17 years. She was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church in Ironton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Frost, Robert Frost and Walter Frost.

She is survived by three sons, Kevin (Mary) Marshall, of Knoxville, Tenn., Scott (Linda) Marshall, of Margate, Fla., and Michael (Shannon) Marshall, of Coal Grove; two daughters, Jennifer Marshall and Lisa Fraley, both of Ironton; six grandchildren, Barry Marshall, Jasmine McConnell, Cody Fraley, Autumn Reaper, all of Ironton, Charles Marshall, and Kyle Castillo, both of Margate, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Frost, of Filmore, N.Y.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. John Williams

John Michael “Mike” Williams, 46, of South Point, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his son Evan Williams’ home. Mike was born Aug. 8, 1967, in Columbus, to Clarence and Margaret J. Williams.

He was employed by the Village of South Point. He was a fan of basketball, music and automobiles. He was a beloved father, son and brother.

Mike is survived by his loving parents, Clarence and Margaret J. Williams, of South Point; a beloved son, Evan Williams, of South Point; brother-in-law and sister, Greg and Brenda (Williams) Mullins; a nephew, Mitchell; and niece, Brittany Mullins, of South Point. Mike will truly be missed by all.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys Horn, and grandfather, Clarence Williams.

Jay Cline

Jay S. Cline, 33, of Centreville, Va., formerly of Proctorville, died Monday, March 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife, Amanda Cline. Irene Huff

Irene Huff, 82, of Huntington, W.Va., died Monday, March 17, 2014, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Graveside services will be noon Friday at Union Hill Cemetery in Chesapeake.
