Every Monday at its Ironton location, the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library offers a program for preschool age children.

The program includes story time, sing-a-long songs and a craft segment all designed to help educate children about an array of topics in a playful environment.

This week the program centered on giraffes, and for many of the children like 4-year-old Rex Weber the learning experience was enjoyable.

“Yeah, I had fun,” Weber said while grinning. “I learned all new stuff, like that they have blue tongues.”

The program begins at 11 a.m. and runs for roughly an hour. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the session as well. The Proctorville, Chesapeake and South Point branches of Briggs Library also offer the same program for preschoolers. Below is the schedule for those locations.

All times are 11 a.m.

• Tuesdays —Proctorville branch, 410 Elizabeth St.;

• Wednesday— South Point branch, 317 Solida Road;

• Thursday — Chesapeake branch, 11054 County Road 1
