BILL SNODDY

Bill G. Snoddy, 79, of Ironton, went home to be with The Lord Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, from St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
Mr. Snoddy was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Raceland, Ky., a son of the late Clifford and Gertrude Stephenson Snoddy.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Iva McClanahan Snoddy; two sisters, Edith Mae Smith and Ella Marie “Dutchie” Snoddy and two brothers, Charles Robert Snoddy and Harry L. Snoddy.
He was a 1948 graduate of Raceland High School. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for two years. Bill was retired from Prudential Insurance Company where he worked in both sales and management for 36 years. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton. He was also a manager of the commissary at the Raceland Car Shops for 11 years.
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Lori Jean and Steve Byington, of Ironton and Lisa Ann and Shawn Clark of Middletown; a special grandson, Brett Steve Byington of Cincinnati; two sisters, Louise French of Raceland and Helen Drewery of Ironton and a sister-in-law, Faye Hewlett of Nashville, Tenn. Bill will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland, Ky., with the Revs. Bob Hale and Charles Shields officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 276 of South Shore. Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
