Ironton Hall of Fame reception, tickets

The Ironton High School athletic Hall of Fame will induct five new members on Saturday in the high school cafeteria.

This year’s class includes former NFL linebacker Danny Pride, outstanding all-around athlete and basketball star Ralph Snead, outstanding football player and current college coach Mark Snyder, high school and college golfing standout Justin Collins and All-American track star Anissa Campbell.

A Hall of Fame Showcase of basketball games will be held prior to the inductions ceremonies. The St. Joseph Flyers play Portsmouth Notre Dame at 2 p.m. and the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers face the Rock Hill Redwomen at 3:45 p.m.

The new Hall of Fame class will be introduced at the conclusion of the Ironton-Rock Hill game and then Ironton’s boys will play Athens at 5:30. The Hall of Fame reception and dinner will follow the game in the cafeteria.

The 1994 girls’ track team will be honored at halftime of the Ironton-Athens game.

Tickets for the games and Hall of Fame are $10. Tickets at the door for the Hall of Fame dinner are $15. A reception will begin following the boys’ varsity game. For tickets, contact the high school (740) 532-3911, the auto shop at 532-6705 or Rick McKnight at (740) 525-8011.

 

Ironton reschedules game at Greenup Co.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers’ boys’ basketball game postponed on Tuesday has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 27, at Greenup County, Ky.

The freshmen will play at 5 p.m. followed by the junior varsity and varsity games.

 

Ironton H.S. alumni basketball in 2015

The Ironton High School athletic department has cancelled its inaugural annual alumni basketball game scheduled for Friday at the Harold Conley Sports Center.

Ironton to honor 1994 girls’ track

Ironton High School will honor the 1994 Class AA state runner-up track team at halftime of Saturday’s boys’ game against Athens. The 1994 team not only won several invitational meets but also claimed the district championship as well as the state runner-up trophy.

Saturday is the Hall of Fame induction reception. St. Joseph plays Portsmouth Notre Dame at 2 p.m., the Ironton girls play Rock Hill at 3:45, followed by the introduction of the five new Hall of Fame members, and the Ironton boys and Athens at 5:30.

 

Ironton Little League plans registrations

The Ironton National Little League will conduct league registrations for youths ages 4-14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, and 3:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Ironton Middle School.

Youths must present required proof of age (birth certificate) and three documents proving residency or one document supporting school enrollment.

Registration fees are: Option 1 $40 for one child or $50 per family and must sell box of candy; Optioni 2 $70 per child or $80 per family with no candy to sell.

Age divisions are: tee ball 4-6; minor league 7-8; major league 9-10 and 11-12; junior league 13-14; senior league 15-16; Big League 17-18 (if interested).
