Air Force Master Sgt. Andrew Campbell has been named Senior Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) of the Year for the 773rd Civil Engineer Squadron.

Campbell is the son of Les and Dee Campbell, of Ironton, and grandson of Homer and Yvonne Campbell, of Ironton. He is stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, at the Air Force and Army Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

This is Campbell’s first time earning the honor since becoming a SNCO in July 2013.

“All the SNCO’s in the unit are compared,” Campbell said. “A package is put together and then we answer face-to-face questions. There’s several criteria and it’s very competitive.”

Campbell is one of 30 SNCO’s in his unit and has been in Alaska since February 2013. Before that he was stationed in Travis, Calif., and has been in the Air Force since October 2003.
