CHESAPEAKE — If you want to try and judge one league against another, here’s your chance.

Bringing the best in the district for a one-day extravaganza, this year’s version of The Beast of the Southeast features some of the top teams in their individual conferences.

Saturday’s event at Chesapeake High School will get started with the Chesapeake and Russell (Ky.) junior varsity teams meeting at 10 a.m. in the warm-up act.

The main menu begins at noon with Russell (4-10) facing Washington Court House (6-1) of the South Central Ohio League.

Although Russell does not have the record, the Red Devils upset Coal Grove 59-58 earlier this season.

Coal Grove (5-4) of the Ohio Valley Conference faces Eastern Brown (8-1) form the Southern Hills League at 2 p.m.

At 4 p.m. Fairland (5-4) of the OVC takes on Warrant (6-3), one of the top teams in the SEOAL.

Athens (8-2) is the premier team in the Tri-Valley Conference and takes on Lucasville Valley (9-1), the favorite in the Southern Ohio Conference.

Athens has lost to state ranked Logan Elm and Bishop Eustace.

The nightcap at 8 p.m. has host Chesapeake (8-3), one of the leaders in the OVC, taking on West Muskingum.

Tickets are $7 for the all-day session.
