BIDWELL — The River Valley Lady Raiders just made the free stuff count.

River Valley was 15-of-23 at the foul line and Coal Grove was just 2-of-2 as the Lady Raiders beat the Lady Hornets 36-28 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Chelsea Copley scored 12 points and Leia Moore had 10 to lead River Valley (3-1, 1-0).

Jacy Jones scored 15 points before fouling out to lead the Lady Hornets (1-3, 0-1). Morgan Sites added 6 points.

The game was tied 8-8 after the first quarter, but the Lady Hornets managed just one field goal by Leslie Mulkey in the second quarter and River Valley had just 5 points to take a 13-10 halftime lead.

The Lady Raiders outscored Coal Grove 9-5 in the third quarter and it was 22-15. Jones had all 5 points for Coal Grove.

River Valley opened up a 25-15 lead with 5:43 to play and built its biggest lead of 32-20 with 1:13 to go.

Jones scored 5 straight points and the Lady Hornets cut the deficit to 32-25, but she fouled out with 58 seconds left.

River Valley converted 12-of-17 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
