Projects move city forward

As the development project of the riverfront in Ironton progresses, each phase presents an opportunity to move the city forward.
Proper planning for the different phases enhances the ability to use the funding that is in place along with the funds applied for to reach their maximum potential.
Each of the four phases are projects that are lacking within the city and create the prospective for an economic increase.
These projects include a marina, a trail system, a pocket park and commercial development.
These elements can be an essential part of increasing the economic outlook of the city because of the multipurpose uses.
Once completed, the trail system could be used for recreational use, but organizations could use these trails for charitable functions.
The marina could provide an economic boost to the city during the year through a variety of sources.
Visitation to the city through another outlet could augment visitation into the city by boaters on the river coming to Ironton for a day. This includes likely shopping, dining and various holidays.
The pocket park provides families and individuals with a pleasant place to visit for an afternoon or to take serene lunch.
We applaud those involved in taking the initiative and having the vision to improve the city with these projects.
