Ralph Higgins
Ralph Emerson Higgins, 85, of Kitts Hill, went to be with his wife, Ernestine, in Heaven on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at his home. Ralph was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Willow Wood, son of the late Walter and Audrey Robinson Higgins.
In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Higgins and his wife Doris; two sisters, Noleen Hixon and her husband Jim, and Betty Parsons; one brother-in-law, Basil Edward Eastham; and a nephew, Eugene Higgins.
Ralph was a long-time member of Getaway Community Church where he has served on many boards and as a Sunday school teacher. Ralph was best known as part owner of Higgins Chevrolet and Ralph Higgins Buick-GMC until his retirement in 1988.
Ralph is survived by four sons and their wives, Randy (Leah) Higgins, David (Kay) Higgins, Doug (Terrilee) Higgins and Rick (Becky) Higgins; one sister, Joyce Eastham of Rome; two brothers, Leon (Nancy) Higgins of Grove City and Robert (Linda) Higgins of Willow Wood; brother-in-law, Bill Parsons; seven grandchildren, Vonda Higgins, Angie (Ben) Kelley, Chad (Kelly) Higgins, Kelli Higgins, Chase (Anna) Higgins, Marissa (Ramsey) Wilson and Whitney (Derek) Cremeans; and six great-grandchildren Marley, Brantley, Clare, Tynslea, Madison and Hunter.
Randy, David and Doug would like to give a special thanks to their brother and sister-in-law, Rick and Becky, for caring for their father so well these last four years.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice of Ashland, Ky. Wanda Garthee-Colley
Wanda Jean Garthee-Colley, 81, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Carman Funeral Home, Flatwoods, Ky., with Dr. Tommy Melvin officiating. Burial will follow at Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Ky. Patricia A. Dalton, 83, of Ironton, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, in the Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
