Annual ‘Block Party’ slated for Saturday

COAL GROVE — Fun, food and fellowship will all be in full swing at Memorial United Methodist Church’s ninth annual ‘Block Party’ in Coal Grove on Saturday.
Pastor Brad Jenkins says the event has grown every year.
“It’s a free community outreach event,” he said. “It takes place right on the front lawn of the church.”
Free hot dogs and beans and cornbread will be served starting at noon. Prior to that will be a cake and pie contest and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital will have a booth set up to conduct health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar and other tests.
Entertainment will be provided by contemporary Christian band King Thursday. A corn hole tournament will take place and there will be inflatables and games for children.
The event runs from noon to 3 p.m.The church is located at 226 Memorial St. in Coal Grove.
