Merrill Collins

June 7, 1936-July 4, 2013

Merrill Collins, 77, of Ironton passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Forest Dale native was born June 7, 1936, the son of the late Alva and Lottie Harmon Collins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Arlene Mays Collins.

Merrill attended Forest Dale schools and was of the Baptist faith.

He was a former machinist for the Dayton Malleable Iron Company retiring in 1998 after 39 years.

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Ed Rawlins of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Everett “Ray” and Jodi Collins of Ironton; son, Dennis Eugene Collins of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Bradley Scott and Cassandra Collins of Ironton;

six grandchildren, Nick and his wife Tia Collins, Amanda, Ashley and Abby Collins and Cody and Cory Rawlins; brother, Orville Collins of Coal Grove; and brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Barb Collins of Coal Grove; sister, Sylvia Jean Mays of Coal Grove;

sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Tim White of Barboursville, W.Va.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Jack Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Rosemary Little

June 9, 1920-July 4, 2013

Rosemary Littler, 93, of Ironton, Ohio passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Jo-Lin Health Care Center.  The Ironton native was born June 9, 1920, a daughter of the late Herman “Happy” and Josephine (Lambert) Roberts.  Rosemary was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Littler.

Ms. Littler was a 1938 graduate of Ironton High School.  Rosemary went on to attend business school and worked as a bookkeeper at Keith Barnes Accounting.  She was also a member of First United Methodist Church, Ironton.

Rosemary is survived by two sisters, Linda Barnes of Ironton and Eloise Bland of Huntington, W.Va.; a brother, Edward Roberts of Ironton; and a sister-in-law, Frances Barlow of Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rosemary is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Roberts.

Anna Schug

Dec. 2, 1932-July 4, 2013

Anna Marie Schug, 80, of Ironton passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Ironton. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 2, 1932, a daughter of the late Walter E. and Mable Louise Anson Miller. She was the widow of the late T. “Bus” Schug.

Mrs. Schug attended Kitts Hill Schools and was a former employee of Wayne National Forest. She was of the Baptist faith and was born, raised and spent most of her life in Lawrence County.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Walter Miller; and a sister, Wilma Blevins.

She is survived by her four children; daughter and son-in-law, Debra Ann and Michael Triplett of Johnstown; son and daughter-in-law, David Michael and Debbie Schug of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Donald Ray and Becky Schug of Ironton; son and daughter-in-law, Darren Lee and Keena Schug of Ironton; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Betty Miller of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Ida Mae and Gene Fout of Ironton;

sister, Betty Malone of Ironton; sister and brother-in-law, Donna Gail and Brian Watson of Ironton; six grandchildren, Michael Triplett II, Holly B. Brooks, David R. Schug, Harmoni D. Keller, Morgan N. Schug and Brooke Addis; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Delawder officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Mary Melvin

Jan. 10, 1927-July 5, 2013

Mary Evelyn Melvin, 86, of Coal Grove, passed away Friday, July 5, 2013, at her residence.  The Blackfork native was born Jan. 10, 1927 a daughter to the late Roy and Josephine (Gillum) Wolfe.  Mary was also preceded in death by her husband, John H. Melvin, who passed away in 2005.

Mrs. Melvin was a 1944 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School.  Mary attended Memorial United Methodist Church, Coal Grove.  She was also a beloved wife and mother.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Jane Hibner of Coal Grove; a grandson, Timothy (Brenda) Hibner of Columbus; a sister, Helen (Robert) Melvin of Coal Grove; and a brother, Lloyd (Pearl) Wolfe of Columbia, Md.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Ray Wolfe.

Graveside services will be 11a.m. Monday at Melvin Family Cemetery in Deering.

Kenneth Snyder

Kenneth P. Snyder, 86, of South Point, died Friday, July 5, 2013, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastors Kenneth Klaiber and Gary Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.
