POMEROY — The alarm clock finally went off at halftime.

After sleepwalking through the first half, the Chesapeake offense woke up in the second half as the Panthers rallied to beat the Meigs Marauders 52-43 on Saturday.

The Panthers made just one field goal and were 7 of 8 from the foul line in the first quarter as they fell behind 11-9.

Things didn’t get any better in the second half as Meigs pulled away to a 24-17 lead.

But Javon Thompson scored 12 points in the third quarter to ignite the Panthers’ offense. Chesapeake outscored the Marauders 18-10 in the quarter to go up 35-34.

Thompson scored 8 more points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers began to pull away. Meigs was forced to foul and the Panthers converted 10 of 15 from the line.

Thompson finished with 25 points to lead all scorers.

Dustin Ulbrich had 11 points for Meigs (4-5).
