South Point (4-2) placed four players in double figures as they downed the Huntington (W.Va.) St. Joe Fighting Irish 75-61 Tuesday in a non-conference game.

The Pointers were led by Jared Perdue with 22 points and 16 rebounds. B. J. Ferrell had a game-high 25 points while Brian Cremeans scored 14 and Shane Holsinger 10.

Chris Evans scored 19 points and Ben Ferguson 18 to lead the Irish. Ryan Cole added 13.

The Pointers erupted the first quarter and took a 23-7 lead. The Irish were down 37-23 at the half.

"It was a very sloppy game. St. Joe played their guts out. We jumped out early and then we lost our intensity," Lafon said. "But St. Joe played their guts out. Give them a lot of credit."

The loss of intensity by the Pointers enabled St. Joe to rally the third quarter and cut the deficit to just 45-41.

But Ferrell scored 10 points and Cremeans 9 the fourth quarter as South Point outscored the Irish 30-20 and pulled away to the victory.

"We didn’t do a very good job defensively on them the second half. B. J. Ferrell and Brian Cremeans picked it up for us the fourth quarter and broke it out," Lafon said.

The Pointers travel to Chesapeake Tuesday, Jan. 4, to begin Ohio Valley Conference play.
