CHESHIRE – The Chesapeake Panthers could be charged with excessive abuse.

The Panthers won their third game in the last four by 30 or more points – the other win was by 24 points – as they pounded the River Valley Raiders 84-45 Saturday night.

"We’re on a pretty good roll right now," Panthers coach Norm Persin said as his team improved to 16-2 on the season.

Anthony Delimpo had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead four players in double figures.

Bobby Barbour and Andy Clark scored 16 each while Zeb Best added 12. Adam Pemberton had three assists and six steals.

"Clark is coming around. He’s taking the ball to the hole. You get him and Barbour going together, and they’re tough to guard," said Persin. "Delimpo still isn’t feeling well. He did a good job, but he didn’t have his legs."

Jeremy Peck led River Valley with 14 points.

Barbour scored eight points the first quarter as Chesapeake jumped in front 23-14. The lead was 34-24 at the half.

Chesapeake erupted in the second half for 50 points. Barbour scored eight more points the third quarter as the Panthers pulled away to a 58-34 lead.

Delimpo got six points early in the fourth quarter as the Panthers continued to extend their lead and then Persin emptied his bench.

The Panthers will play at Rock Hill Tuesday. A win would give Chesapeake its unprecedented fifth straight Ohio Valley Conference championship.
