COAL GROVE — Earlier this month, the Coal Grove Lions Club and the Hornets Corner Leo Club volunteered their time to help make sure a local family stays warm this winter.

The clubs cut, split and stacked firewood for Marie Jenkins and her two daughters, whose only source of heat in the winter is burning wood.

“This is better than presents under a Christmas tree to me,” Jenkins said. “You have no idea how long it would have taken me to do this myself.”

Leo Club President Caitlyn Delawder helped with the project.

“It was a very rewarding experience for me,” Delawder said. “Yes, it may have been hard work, but it was going toward a great cause. And because of our work, a family will be warm this winter.”

The Leo Club’s objective is to provide the youth of the world with an opportunity for development and contribution, individually and collectively, as responsible members of the local, national and international community.
