A group of local residents headed by former Ironton City Council member Randy Lilly has decided that waiting for good news for the city is not enough. They are putting their shoulders, weekends and hearts into helping improve their community.

Lilly is planning a special day – and maybe more – for projects in the city. He is asking local groups to volunteer their time to help do some cleanup work in Ironton, at the city’s entrances, for example.

If everyone offers a little of their time and effort to make their community better – even if only cosmetically, Lilly reasons, Ironton already has taken a positive step forward.

And right now, that is exactly what this city needs.

Any project that adds something to the community and makes us all feel a little bit better about the future is definitely worth trying.

Every civic organization in this community should be jumping at this chance to be a part of the city’s renewal, even if only for one day.

Smaller groups can partner with larger ones and some of our children should be involved, too.

Fighting our way back is going to take more than just new industry. A change in attitude and plans for the future are musts, too. Lilly’s project could be that necessary first step.

Don’t miss a chance to be part of something special – and historic. Call and reserve your spot.
