Chesapeake Middle School students come into the gymnasium, past a row of shovels, prior to groundbreaking ceremonies this morning. School officials moved the event indoors where Ohio School Facilities Commission officials presented a $14,682,256.50 check for a new $8 million middle school and renovations at the current high school and elementary. Chesapeake residents voted in favor of a levy, which provided about $2.4 million to secure the state monies. The new middle school will be a brick building with a sloping, shingled roof, architects said.
