Diana Meyers, an employee of the Burlington Speedway on Wal-Mart Way, reported two white males entered the gas station about 2:08 a.m., walked up to the counter and pointed a small caliber blue steel semi-automatic pistol at her, according to sheriff’s reports.

Sgt. Randy Goodall reported the sheriff’s department received the burglary alarm call at 2:15 a.m. Deputies arrived on the scene at 2:21 a.m. and found Ms. Meyers behind the counter, bleeding from the head area.

Ms. Meyers reported one of the two white males pointed the gun at her and said, "Give me your money," Goodall’s report stated.

The victim said she didn’t get a clear view of the second male but reported both were of average height, about 5 feet 11 inches tall.

Ms. Meyers told deputies she turned to get the money when the armed male robber came from the customer-side of the counter and into her booth. The suspect then began pulling cigarettes from the shelf above the counter as he waited for Ms. Meyers to open the cash drawer, Goodall’s report stated.

Once she opened the drawer, the male began pulling money from it and demanded her to give him the money from the safe.

According to the deputy’s report, when the female employee bent over by the safe to hand the armed male the money bag, he struck her in the head with what she believed to be the butt of the gun.

She said the second suspect continued to stand on the other side of the counter and place cigarettes in his pockets.

Ms. Meyers reported as she fell to the floor, the suspects exited the gas station and headed in an eastward direction on foot.

The employee was treated by Southeast Ohio Emergency Medical Service crews at the scene of the robbery.

The amount of cash the two males left with is still undetermined.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information concerning the incident or the events just prior to or directly following the robbery are asked contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department at 532-3525.
