A tough 53-51 loss to state-ranked Reedsville Eastern Tuesday night may have ended the Symmes Valley basketball team’s season, but it did not put a damper on what the Vikings were able to accomplish this year.
The simple fact the game was in the Division IV regional tournament is reason enough to be proud. Many other teams in the state would have been satisfied with winning a sectional title, but the Vikings took it one step further and captured the district title for the first time in school history. The team was one of only 16 schools remaining in Division IV.
The team also finished the year with a record of 18-6, setting a school record for the most victories in a season.
As is the case with all of your fans, we are very proud of what you have accomplished this season. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a long string of successful basketball seasons at Symmes Valley High School.
