GRAYSON, Ky. — Ever wanted to sit at home and work in your jammies? Maybe you can.

Kentucky Teleworks will take applications for positions during a job fair Tuesday, Sept. 25 at the Ashland Community and Technical College Technology Drive Campus near Grayson, Ky. Teleworks Director Joshua Ball said his Hazard, Ky., -based agency is looking for “hundreds of people.”

Ball said his agency is looking for people with experience in customer service, sales, IT tech support and at-home interviewing. Applicants should bring a resume, valid ID and Social Security card. The hours of the job fair are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Telework (work-from-home) employment allows people to participate in the global economy without relocating, Ball explained.

“We are a filtering mechanism,” Ball said. “Companies tell us who they’re looking for and we link the people with the company.” Right now Ball said his agency has contracts to supply teleworkers for seven national and international corporations.

In the past, Teleworks has provided assistance to such firms as Cincinnati Bell, J.P. Morgan Chase and Apple computers.

Ball said some of the jobs do come with benefits. The starting pay for customer service representatives is $9-$10.50 an hour, the hourly wage for some IT positions is $10-$13 an hour and at-home interviewers start at $8 an hour.

Ball said the idea is to provide jobs for people in rural areas that do not require them to leave their communities to make a decent wage.

This event is an initiative of the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, KY Office of Employment and Training, and Community Action Partnership. For more information, go to the web at kentuckyteleworks.com or call 606-435-8498.
