Probation violators were chief among the people making appearances Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Cody Patrick, 24, of 106 Lawrence St., South Point, admitted he violated his community control sanctions, also known as probation by getting convicted of drunk driving in West Virginia, failing to report to his probation officer and getting arrested in Lawrence County on a new, unrelated theft charge.

After he admitted he violated his probation, he then pleaded guilty on a bill of information to the theft charge. Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Patrick to 19 months in prison.

Patrick was placed on probation after pleading guilty late last year to charges of receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon and using a weapon while intoxicated.

Justin Callicoat, 19, of 1505 Lawrence St., Ironton, admitted he, too, violated his probation by failing to report to his probation officer and getting into trouble on new charges.

Bowling sentenced Callicoat to six months in prison. Callicoat pleaded guilty in January to one count of receiving stolen property and was placed on probation. However, he was arrested in August on a series of car break-ins, prompting the new charges.

Paul A. Rockel, 27, of 7174 State Route 243, South Point, admitted he violated his probation by failing to report to his probation officer. Bowling sentenced him to a six-month prison term. Rockel was on probation for a 2007 theft conviction.

Joshua Scott, 25, 200 Township 346, South Point, admitted he also violated his probation by testing positive for drug use and getting arrested on new charges in Marietta.

Bowling sentenced him to two years in prison. Bowling denied Scott’s request for a brief furlough before being sent to prison.
