Two people arrested in connection with an alleged meth lab bust in South Point were arraigned Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Jennifer Hinchman, 1129 Waco Road, Huntington, W.Va., was arraigned on a charge of illegal manufacture of drugs. She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Mike Gleichauf.

Judge D. Scott Bowling allowed a bond set in Lawrence County Municipal Court to continue and added a $25,000 own recognizance (OR) bond to it. Bowling ordered Hinchman to return to court Sept. 19 for a pretrial conference.

Also Jan Bess, 48, of 276 County Road 124, Chesapeake, was arraigned on one count of complicity to the illegal manufacture of drugs.

She pleaded not guilty through her attorney, Mike Davenport. Bowling allowed a bond posted in municipal court to continue and added a $25,000 OR bond to it. Bess was given an Oct. 3 date for a pretrial conference.

A third person, Donald Workman, 29, of 306 Little Solida Road, South Point, was arraigned last week on drug charges stemming from the alleged meth lab bust. His case on the drug charges and another separate case are pending in the court system.

Hinchman, Bess and Workman were arrested Aug. 2 in Chesapeake.

Samuel Butler, 45, of 96 Private Drive 2157, South Point, was arraigned on one count of failure to provide change of address. Butler, who is a registered sex offender, is required to tell the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office if he moves to a new address. Butler pleaded guilty through his attorney, John Kehoe. Bowling set a $10,000 OR bond and scheduled a Sept. 29 pretrial conference.

Jason Reed, 32, of 3906 County Road 64, Willow Wood, was arraigned on charges of breaking and entering and theft, both fifth-degree felonies.

He pleaded not guilty through Kehoe, who is also his attorney. Bowling allowed a bond set in a lower court to continue and added a $10,000 OR bond to it. Reed must return to court Sept. 26 for a pretrial conference.
