Ironton, Vikings move up in computer ratings

There is movement.
The Ironton Fighting Tigers and Symmes Valley Vikings are moving up in the Ohio High School Athletic Association computer ratings released Tuesday.
Ironton (6-1) jumped from sixth to third in Region 15 of Division IV with a 13.8217 average. Portsmouth still leads the region with a 19.8765 average and New Lexington (7-0)
at 17.1500.
Martins Ferry is fourth at 13.6714 followed by Portsmouth West (13.3011), Fairfield Union (13.1857), Coshocton (13.1000), and Waverly (11.1428).
Portsmouth has a key game this week against Gallipolis while Ironton had two tough games to finish the season. The Fighting Tigers are open this week, then host Columbus DeSales and Belfry, Ky.
DeSales leads Region 11 of Division III.
Symmes Valley jumped to fifth in Region 23 of Division VI following its win over Lucasville Valley.
Symmes Valley (5-2) has a 6.5308 average. Leading the region is Starsburg-Franklin (7-0) with a 10.2142 average with Danville (9.5222) second, Shadyside (8.6142), and Millersport (8.4571) is fourth.
Rounding out the top eight after Symmes Valley is Bealsville (6.3428), Sciotoville East (5.5841), and Waterford (5.1514). East plays Symmes Valley next week.
The Wheelersburg Pirates remained alive in the Region 19 Division V playoff picture despite a loss to Waverly last week. Wheelersburg is fifth with an 8.8260 average.
Woodsfield Monroe leads the region followed by Amanda-Clearcreek, Barnesville, and Johnstown-Monroe. Lucasville Valley is sixth.
The top eight teams in each region of each division qualifies for the playoffs.
