AID -- This one was a classic.

Fairland Lady Dragons pitcher Jessica Mann and Symmes Valley Lady Vikings Lori Harmon hooked up in a pitcher's duel that was decided by an unearned run.

Mann pitched a four-hitter, struck out seven and walked two as the Lady Dragons edged the Lady Vikings 1-0 Tuesday.

Harmon was just as impressive. She gave up three hits, struck out 10 and walked just three.

"It was a great ball game, we just came up short. Both teams had a chance to score, and neither pitcher deserved to lose," Lady Vikings coach Jeff "Odie" Estep said.

Fairland scored the only run of the game with two outs in the seventh.

Jennifer Jones walked, stole second and raced home when Jodi Black's bunt was booted and then thrown away.

Symmes Valley had the bases loaded twice and runners at second and third on two occasions. Fairland had a runner at third base on three occasions but failed to capitalize.

Symmes Valley, 8-3, plays at Rock Hill Thursday.
