Downtown Ironton is almost ready to rock.

ZoneFest 2003, the brainchild of Ohio University student and Ironton native Rob Brumfield, is nearly complete, Brumfield said. As of Wednesday afternoon, festival organizers received their alcohol permit and all bands have been confirmed.

The outdoor music festival will be 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday at the End Zone, with music from 6-11 p.m. The festival will feature country and 1970s rock bands June 20, and modern rock bands June 21, as well as vendors selling food, non-alcoholic beverages and alcoholic beverages.

Ironton-based country band Country Knights will play from 6-8 p.m. Friday, followed by the Ashland, Ky.-based 1970s-style band Common Ground from 9-11 p.m. Saturday, the Damnits, a Columbus-based modern rock band will play from 6-7 p.m. and will be followed by Patrick, Nuckols and Rowe from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The Athens-based Red Shift band, in which Brumfield is the lead singer and rhythm guitar player, will close the festival, playing from 9-11 p.m.

At the gate, tickets will cost $3, and will cost $2 if purchased in advance from the End Zone.
