Willis beats Cards for 11th victory

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Rookie Dontrelle Willis pitched eight impressive innings and Ivan Rodriguez homered as the Florida Marlins beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-3 Wednesday night.
Willis (11-2) shrugged off a shaky start.
Albert Pujols doubled in the sixth to extend his hitting streak to a career-best 20 games.
Cubs 3, Padres 2
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Kerry Wood struck out 10 and Sammy Sosa hit a 448-foot homer as the Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres 3-2 on Wednesday night.
Wood leads the majors with 192 strikeouts. He moved within nine of 1,000 lifetime in 133 big league starts.
Braves 10, Brewers 2
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Greg Maddux won his fifth straight game, and Marcus Giles and Andruw Jones each hit a pair of home runs as the Atlanta Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 on Wednesday night.
Maddux (11-8) allowed six hits in six innings, and struck out five and walked one before turning over a 10-0 lead to Jason Marquis in the bottom of the seventh.
Diamondbacks 3, Expos 2
PHOENIX (AP) -- Carlos Baerga's tiebreaking pinch-hit single in the eighth inning led the Arizona Diamondbacks to a 3-2 win over the Montreal Expos on Wednesday night.
Baerga looped an opposite-field hit that dropped in front of left fielder Brad Wilkerson, and Alex Cintron scored from second base with the go-ahead run.
Astros 11, Mets 1
HOUSTON (AP) -- Adam Everett hit the first inside-the-park home run at Minute Maid Park, and Jeff Bagwell and Richard Hidalgo each homered and drove in three runs in the Houston Astros' 11-1 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday night.
Wade Miller (8-10) allowed one run and six hits in six innings. Geoff Blum also homered, and Lance Berkman had four hits and Bagwell and Hidalgo each had three.
