FRANKLIN FURNACE - Forget the one, two. For the Green Bobcats, beating the Portsmouth Notre Dame Titans was as easy as three.

The Bobcats drained 11 3-point goals as the opened the season with a 66-33 rout of the winless Titans in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Aaron Patten scored 25 points including four 3-pointers while Derek Lewis got all his 15 points off 3-point goals to lead the Bobcats. Timmy Yarnell added 10 points and seven rebounds while Lewis had six assists.

"We shot the ball well from behind the arc," Green coach Kevin Lewis said. "It's good to get in a game. It seems like we've been practicing forever."

Adam Sparks and Ryan Klaiber added four rebounds to the winning effort. Coach Lewis was pleased with the contributions by all his players.

"It was good to get everyone involved in the game. We got some nice contributions from people off the bench. Everybody found a way to contribute," coach Lewis said "Ryan Bloomfield played an excellent game, and Klaiber battled well on the boards.

"(Brian) Ramey hit a couple of 3s, and Kenny Elrod and Adam Sparks did a nice job off the bench. They do things that don't show up in the boxscore."

Patten outscored the Titans by himself the first quarter with seven points to give Green a 12-4 lead.

Lewis knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Bobcats built a 29-14 halftime cushion.

The duo of Patten and Lewis combined for 17 points in the third quarter. Patten scored 11 points and Lewis hit two more trifectas as the lead grew to 52-22.

Jason Bester and Bloomfield got four points each in the fourth quarter as Green won going away.

Green plays at Portsmouth Clay Tuesday.
