Destroyers win opener

INDIANAPOLIS - JoJo Polk returned an interception 4 yards for a touchdown with 4:30 left to help Columbus win its first game in franchise history, 54-48 over Indiana on Saturday night.
The Destroyers scored 26 points in the fourth quarter. Ryan Vena threw TD passes to Cornelius White and Sedrick Robinson, and White also scored on an interception return in the quarter.
The game attracted a crowd of 14,007, the biggest in Firebirds history.
