It's the party after the party. And it's going to be some kind of party.

The Ironton High School Junior/Senior Prom is scheduled 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, May 8, at the high school. But the fun doesn't stop there because the after-prom party will be held from 12:30 to 5:30 a.m. at Spare Time Recreation.

No one will be permitted to enter after 1 a.m. Anyone who leaves prior to the conclusion will not be permitted to return. No alcoholic beverages will be permitted.

Party organizers Mary Linn, Sheri Ray and Cindy Rudmann have planned a post-prom event to excite all the students.

"There are a lot of things for the kids to do and there are a lot of great prizes. I think the kids will have a great time. I wished we had had a party like this when I was in school," Linn said.

There is a plethora of door prizes, including food coupons, gift cards, school souvenirs items and DVD players. There will be a grand prize of $1,000 awarded at 5:30 a.m. when the after-prom party concludes.

Students must be present to win.

Besides the prizes, the party menu will include billiards, bowling, lazer tag, a euchre tournament, a poker tournament, a wiffle ball tournament, karaoke and more.

Food - there will be plenty of pizza - and soft drinks will be provided at no charge. Fountain drinks are provided at no cost, but additional food and fountain drinks will be available at the concession stand. All concession stand items must be purchased by the students.

Parents interested in the after-prom party should complete a form and return it to the high school principal's office on or before Monday, May 3. If desired, parents will be informed if their child leaves the after-prom party early.

The party is held at no charge to the students and is open to any junior or senior attending Ironton High School and their prom date. Anyone who chooses not to attend the prom may still attend the prom party.

The only non-Ironton High School students admitted will be those who attend the prom with an IHS student.
