It is an invitation to join neighbors for Memorial Day weekend.

Ironton-Lawrence County Memorial Day Parade Committee member Bill Ellis said a Wheelersburg committee has contacted him, inviting people and groups who march in the local parade to join them for their parade on the Saturday before Memorial Day.

"They said that if any units are willing, they could march in both parades," Ellis said.

Anyone interested may contact Ellis at 533-9142.

Meanwhile churches, schools and veterans subcommittee chair Marsha Kerns said she has had a good response from local veterans who plan to ride on the special veterans' float in the procession.

"I think I've heard from 15 or 20 so far," Kerns said.

The parade committee also opted to purchase 50 new flags to be displayed along the parade route Memorial Day weekend.
