Humphrey awarded grand champion at chicken show

ROME TOWNSHIP - Birds of feather really did flock together at the Lawrence County Fair livestock arena Tuesday evening.
When the judging was done, Timmy Humphrey of the Symmes Valley Future Farmers of American took the grand champion trophy in the chicken judging, while Dylan Pelletier, of the Scottown Farmers and Farmerettes collected the reserve champion trophy.
The grand champion trophy was sponsored by Lawrence County farm Bureau while the reserve champion trophy was sponsored by the Hardy family.
Rounding out the top 10 spots were: third place: Destiny Straight, fourth place: Hailey Pelletier, fifth place: Amber Murnahan, sixth place, Trent Thacker, seventh place: Jennifer Neal, eighth place: Dakota Barnett, ninth place: Tony Wilson and tenth place: Chris Lauer.
In the showmanship competition, Chelsey Keathley of the Scottown Farmers and Farmerettes won first place, while Dakota Barnett, of the Hillbilly Gang and Savannah Bower, of the Freedom Farmers won second and third places, respectively.
