SOUTH POINT- Calling all cars: your presence is requested in an effort to help young children.

Saturday, the Lawrence County Early Childhood Center will have its second annual cruise-in. Director Sue Vanderhoof said the cruise-in was started last year as a means to raise money for a sensory room at the South Point school. She said since last year's response was so positive,

the event was continued.

"Last year we had 50 vehicles," Vanderhoof said "We heard a lot of good things and we hope we can up that number to 75 this time."

An estimated 400 people attended last year's cruise-in. Vanderhoof said she appreciates the public's support of the early childhood center.

"A lot of the equipment used for kids with disabilities is very expensive," Vanderhoof said. "As we have more kids in our programs we need more equipment to meet their needs. Without people willing to be involved and make donations, we would not be able to provide these services."
