SOUTH POINT - The children's chant "rain, rain, go away" could well be borrowed by workers building a new spec building and installing roads, sewer and water lines at The Point industrial park.

Lawrence County Economic Development Director, Dr. Bill Dingus said Tuesday that inclement weather has slowed progress on those projects and delayed their completion dates.

"The weather has slowed us down," Dingus told the Lawrence County Commission. "It has pushed us back three or four weeks due to the rain."

The $1.3 million, 42,000 square-foot steel shell building was originally scheduled for completion in early September. It will be marketed to prospective clients at the park.

In an interview earlier this month, Dingus said some entities have already expressed an interest in the building, but he declined to name any of the prospective tenants.

Bill Enyart & Sons Contracting Inc., of South Point is the general contractor for the project.

A $2.36 million infrastructure project was supposed to have been completed by early October. These improvements will allow for access to approximately 180 to 200 acres of the park.
