ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP - For many, it is a Christmas tradition.

Again this year the Rock Hill High School marching band will have a fruit sale. For the last 20 years, band members and band boosters have raised money by selling oranges and grapefruit in time for the holidays.

Band booster Larry Raise said in spite of this year's parade of hurricanes that have lashed Florida, executives with Medina Fruit Co., of Medina have said they will have fruit available for Rock Hill's fund-raiser.

"They got a company they work with there and they've assured me there will be fruit," Rase said. "I talked to them last week. I'm not sure about the prices."

The band and band boosters usually sell about 900 cases of fruit. The money raised pays for various band needs. Anyone who wishes to buy fruit may contact a band member or the school at 532-8053 extension 2119.

The band and show choir will make a second trip to Disney World in Orlando, Fla., during spring break March 27-April 2, 2005. The band and show choir made their first trip to the theme park this past spring. Band director Scott Jones said the students are excited about going back.

"It's awesome. It's the biggest stage of any entertainment venue in the world," Jones said. "You just can't get any better than that."
