Christina Harvey must adhere to the old adage that you finish what you start.

Harvey was the "go to" player Wednesday and she completed her tasks as the St. Joseph Female Flyers whipped the Sciotoville Portsmouth East Lady Tartans 57-31.

"I thought we did a good job of hitting the open man," Female Flyers coach B.J. Hannon said. "I thought Christina really played well. She did a nice job of finishing when she got the ball inside."

Harvey had a game-high 22 points to lead nine different players in the scoring column. Raven Blake added 11 points.

East was led by Kerisa Bennett with 14 points.

Blake and Bennett exchanged baskets to start the game, then Lindsay Dressel, Mallory Hasenauer and Danielle Blair all scored for an 8-2 lead.

Bennett's basket at the 3:13 mark snapped the run, but St. Joseph ran off 11 more unanswered points capped by Blake's bucket with 17 seconds on the clock to lead 19-4. Bennett scored and it was 19-6 at the end of the quarter.

The Female Flyers continued their scoring with a

9-0 spurt to begin the second quarter. Harvey hit two baskets to start the run, and her 3-point play at the 4:57 mark pushed the lead to 28-6.

Kayla Garrett scored with 4:25 left in the half to stop the scoring spree, but the damage was done as St. Joseph led 33-12 at the break.

Harvey scored to open the second half. Then Bennett hit a foul shot and Katie Peters scored and it was 35-15. Blake and Dressel scored for a 41-19 lead and Charleigh Haas hit a bucket just before the end of the quarter to put the Female Flyers up 44-19.

Sophie Schwab got St. Joseph on the scoreboard to begin the fourth quarter. Dressel hit two straight jumpers, Sarah Webb had a basket and Melissa McKnight's foul shot extended the lead to 55-25 with 1:46 left. Haas closed out the Flyers scoring with 47 seconds left.

St. Joseph (6-7) hosts Rose Hill, Ky., at 6 p.m. Thursday in a varsity-only game.
